Apple quince crumble (vegan)

Published on dessert spring summer fall winter

Here is a no-butter crumble recipe, perfect for the apple season. I love adding some quinces in the mix, that balance out the sweetness with some acidity.

Ingredients

  • As many apples (for sweetness) and quinces (sourness) as you like
  • 120 g flour
  • 8 tbsp oil or hard coconut oil
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the fruit into pieces (you can keep some of the peel for a rustic look).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, almond flour, sugar, and oil.
  3. Mix with your fingers or a fork until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add a little water if the mixture is too dry. Do not add more flour. Spread this crumbly mixture over the fruit.
  4. Preheat your oven to 180 °C.
  5. Bake for about 30–35 minutes, until golden brown.
