V60 coffee

The basic V60 recipe I follow when preparing coffee beans for the first time.

Ingredients

  • 20 g coffee
  • 300 ml water

Preparations

  1. Grind the coffee beans to be about the size of sand. On my Knock Aergrind, that translates to the 2.4 dial.
  2. Heat the water to about 93 °C. Place the filter on your V60, and wash it with the hot water a few times to remove the paper taste.

Brewing

  1. Add the ground coffee to the filter, and make a small dip in it.
  2. I do five even pours of 60 g each.
  3. Each pour takes around 10 seconds in a steady spiral motion, starting from the centre and moving outward.
  4. There is a 30-second break between each pour.
